In an email to members he explained that four newer members of the board did not agree with the way he has been running the board and he said:  "During the meeting two proposals to change our Articles were tabled that would limit Directors' terms of office to six years and thus remove half of the existing
Board. These would have been passed if I had not stood down as Chairman and regained my Director's vote (The Chair has only a casting vote in the event of a tie)".
There is disquiet among the membership with growing support  for a call for an EGM to resolve the situation.

The British Waterways ‘top down’ approach to any problem is its biggest failing says South West of England MEP Ashley Fox.

All about the Kennet & Avon Canal

Treasures of the towpath
Rolf Augustin looks at the horse brasses which along with the colourful roses and castles that adorned the working narrowboats brought colour to the cut

They gleamed wherever the eye could see.  To the narrowboat families that plied the inland waterways in the tow-horse days of yesteryear, they were lovingly known as “bright bits”.  Along with the colourful roses and castles, lace plates and Measham teapot that adorned each tiny cabin, bright bits proclaimed the proud independence and enduring self-reliance that so defined the closely knit boat community.
