The Duchess of Cornwall will travel aboard a narrowboat on the Kennet & Avon Canal on Wednesday 8th September 2010 for a ceremony to mark the start of the work on the proposed link from the K&A Canal at Semington to the River Avon in Melksham as well as the 200th Anniversary of the opening of the Wilts & Berks Canal. New Swindon canal taking shape

The Wilts & Berks Canal in Swindon, that is now navigable from Kings Hill to the new Swindon expansion area of Whichelstowe, will soon link up with a brand new stretch of canal, with a new lock, that will increase the length of this canal section that is in water to more than 4km. More>>
